Why lycan is always banned
I see new hero, queue normal matches to try out builds. I understand people try hard even in normal games but I want true AP mode. The point is so the meta doesn't get stale, I play all pick unranked because I'd like to play one of my heroes, if it's banned I'll just play something else, I'll take that sacrifice over playing against the same heroes every game. No one plays CM cuz it takes forever and it sucks?
Then ask valve to fix it for pubs. While I agree that unranked should let you pick what you want, but having bans in ranked is healthy. It prevents stale meta spam and diminishes one hero spam. Bans should be in unranked too. You people treat it as such, but it isn't just some place where everything goes and no one cares about their hour invested in the game. There are people down voting me on other comments in this thread because as casuals they play ranked games a week and can't pick their favourite hero which also a lot of people's favourites and is usually strong in the meta coz it's banned.
I generally think unranked should be a safe haven for trying out things and doing what you want which includes picking the hero of your choice. That's an excellent thing actually. We might be able to avoid seeing the same 6 to 8 heroes every single game.
Yea, no. Everyone should just get one ban. But then it bans 20 random ass heroes anyways after that. The system right now is bullshit. There is no way to pick a good team that may or may no counters ur enemy.
The first 2 picks are blind. Even worse: a 3th pick bristle, Meepo or Broodhas to get countert, so you can force your opponents last pick a unfavourable lane or a losing game. This is no fun for anyone. In pubs it is the most random thing. I like the amount of bans right now. I'm just so tired of seeing the same shit every game, but This I agree with. The amount of times you just blind pick into a hard counter is way too much. I have 8 signature heroes for my role more than many Dota players, right?
It's not really funny. What about people with signatures? I have around heroes that I absolutely cannot play. The other or so I can play comfortably at ancient or higher. Spend even more of your limited time to learn how to play heroes you do not enjoy. You are not allowed to have fun while playing this video game. I can play almost all heroes in Dota excluding , for example, chen and meepo , the point is who I like to play on.
If there's only of the heroes in the game that you enjoy playing that's likely because you haven't played the rest. The rest of us shouldn't be punished because some people can only enjoy hero spamming.
You're not "being punished". How is someone being able to play their favourite hero in all pick "punishing you"?????????????????????? Because of the recent changes to the number of heroes that get banned every game I have made a new hero grid layout specificially for heroes I wouldnt mind playing in case the hero that I want to play gets banned. I also strongly believe that the chance a new hero such as Dawnbreaker gets banned should be reduced for the first week its out.
I miss being able to pick a hero because I like it instead of because its not banned every game xd. Personally I enjoy having bans in all pick.
Enemy creepwaves get deleted instantly so unless a hero shows up or the tower kills them, nothing can stop them, and their duration is really long. New hero is always pick or ban, and just as a reminder, if both sides pick the same hero it's banned, so not even first picking her would work day one, in my opinion. Personally, I haven't played since the update, I'm still kind of soaking in all the changes like a sponge. Yah, I had 65 games straight where I couldn't play lion. It's too many bans.
And too often for more common heroes. I play lion once a month but I really wanted to play him, it took about 15 matches until I could It's kinda bit daft for unranked tbh. At this point if you want to play one of the more popular heroes, playing random draft might be the way to go. Some people only have 1 or 2 hours during weekends to enjoy a game or two with their favourite hero. Then it gets banned. Ok this might be hard to understand but bear with me, maybe the heroes OP wants to play are in those 20 banned ones and not the 90 unbanned ones.
This might be hard to understand, but bear with me too, comprehension isn't the same as agreement. Maybe I just want point out why the argument isn't as strong as the change to the banning system itself. That's why in order to prevent it, they implement more bans in all pick.
Yes, it might not be perfect and desirable to some, but I don't see any problem with that. Maybe Dota should implement unlockable heroes What is the game mode for those noobs that aren't really versatile or single hero spamming? Ah yes the " All Most Pick".
The problem, is that we aren't Chinese. If the whole of the world just behaved and enjoyed this thing like this one specific country does, then they'd be happy". I love the newbie bashing in this thread. Remember the whole "be nice to new players" thing? It didn't last very long I see What are these players suppose to do when they finally feel confident from new player mode to go ranked for the first time and someone bans their lich they've been spamming for the past games?
Just start learning a new hero in ranked mode? Bans are part of dota 2, they force you to built a team a certain way, it forces you to react to something a certain way, it even allows you to empower your own heroes in a certain way. To encourage a player to just spam the same stuff over and over, is doing them a bear's favour. A player shouldn't feel uncomfortable or unable to properly play the game if they don't have access to less than a fifth of the dota cast. And maybe they don't want to improve but just have FUN.
Can you imagine? Check out the Heroes of the Game documentary presented by foodpanda. Home Dota 2. By Ahmad "Otomo" Alazawi October 8, pm. Share Article. Even though these two heroes are popular, teams showed very different reasons for picking them. The 5 best carry players to watch at TI10 6 eye-opening stats that predict how teams will perform at TI10 Why has Io been heavily contested in every game at The International?
The Lesser Wolves last for slightly under a minute, and casting the ability again replaces your current pair with new ones. With levels in the ability, the wolves also gain new abilities. Level 3 is where the boys get invisible, and they become that much peskier. Their invisibility will break when they attack, but using Howl will not. Also note that they do not have phased movement — so they can be used to block while invisible! This does damage per second and reduces attack and move speed.
This is what allows Lycan to really catch up to squishy backliners. While insane on paper, you usually skip this ability in favour of the others early on. While the armour reduction is pretty straightforward, the real kicker is the attack damage reduction. This can be really useful for gimping enemy carries. The important aspect of this ability is that applies to all his units , including units from Helms.
Additionally, the effect is global, which really amplifies the rat potential. The only things you have to watch out for are stuns, leashes or anything that limits your movement. Additionally, the spell has a 1. Use the buffs to play around the fights, sending your army in. You should be playing on the side-lines, going in only when the time is right. Just like every transformation ability, its weakness is the downtime. Lets you bite an ally hero — giving them all bonuses of Shapeshift.
Very good if you are playing more of a utility Lycan and have an ally who is a good Wolf Bite target Slark, Sven, etc. You always want to max Summon Wolves because they help you do just about everything better. The earlier Cripple helps immensely with getting kills with Shapeshift too.
Feral Impulse will be your second priority, with the regen helping a ton in the laning stage. The HP regen is just a tad bit overkill. This is a tricky one. Personally, I favor the Shapeshift Cooldown as it basically increases my uptime playing active.
Another toss up here. This one is purely personal choice. Still, here are my recommendations. The magic stick is particularly nice for summoning more Wolves. The ring gives you a lot of effective HP against physical damage, like Drow Ranger, plus it builds into Vlads later too.
Your goal in the early game as Lycan is to farm your Helm of the Dominator as fast as possible. Small items are generally a waste of gold on Lycan as you should have enough regen and damage to farm comfortably. Really, the only choice you have here is which component of Helm of Dominator to start with. Power Treads are not strictly necessary as skipping them allows you to get to the next big item quicker. However, if you hate walking slowly between camps; Power Treads are good value for money.
Assault Cuirass is great on Lycan as it gives you everything you want — armor, attack speed and the minus armor aura synergizes amazingly with your army for killing and pushing. Skull Basher: is always nice — it provides Lycan some much needed lockdown and a way to cancel TPs and super useful for when enemy carries start picking up BKBs.
Additionally, Lycan is one of the few heroes that still likes building Abyssal Blade, as his speed makes up for his melee range active. In fact, Abyssal can be invaluable in the late game to secure important kills. Solar Crest: this is a great choice for when you are playing offlane Lycan as it provides cheap stats and minus armor.
The status resistance and strength are always nice. Orchid Malevolence: can be nice if you are trying to hunt down sneaky heroes like Puck. Trust me. Only do this as Position 1 Lycan though! Armlet is the best substitute to Helm of the Dominator in the early game — it allows you to farm faster, gives great stats for its price and the health loss is largely offset by Feral Impulse. The mana regen is very nice and the double attack can help you dish out damage in chases.
Naga won't be able to dominate in lane quite as much. A lot of other heroes also got minor nerfs like Tide's ult traveling slower, Invoker getting a damage hit, Anti-Mage's MS going down, etc. It's my hope that the accumulation of these nerfs means that some lesser used heroes might get more love. I think it'll make the banning phase a lot more interesting, I really like it.
And, as a pointed out above, a lot of nerfs were given out - the whole meta might just change, so I don't think it'll be bad at all.
I only qq about balance in sc2 but that hero is just retarded. Really would like to see someone pick up PL with his insane 4. I have to say i like the idea It allows for faaaaar more strategy on captains part.
When banning in 1st phase, you are going in blind This way, you will have more options to counter other teams strategy. You will see what they are going for, you can counter it etc Also, if you are playing CM mode in pubs or in MM with a team, 1st ban phase is useless well You can ban anything you want, you have no idea of what the other team wants.
I feel like, 2 heroes is perfect. Most important to me is that all these 'OP' heroes that previously were never seen simply because they were ALWAYS banned in the first phase will slip through.
This means that teams will have to adapt to them rather than just automatically ban them out.
